Helma Orosz [ˈoros]; born 11 May 1953 in Görlitz) is a German politician and member of the CDU. She was the Saxon State Minister for Social Affairs between 2003 and 2008. She won the election of the Oberbürgermeister in Dresden in June 2008 and assumed this office on 1 August 2008. She is the successor of Ingolf Roßberg respectively Lutz Vogel.

Helma Orosz learned nursery school governess at the Görlitz Medical Professional School. She changed into administration and became head of department for social affairs of the Kreis Weißwasser and whose successor Niederschlesischer Oberlausitzkreis. She studied management of public administration between 1998 and 2001 in Bautzen in secondary part-time.
Orosz joined the CDU in 2000[1] and became Oberbürgermeisterin of Weißwasser soon after in 2001. She was called by Georg Milbradt into his first cabinet at 10 Juli 2003 where she became Saxon State Minister for Social Affairs. Current Saxon Minister-President Stanislaw Tillich confirmed her in that office in June 2008.
She was nominated by the CDU of Saxony to regain the Oberbürgermeister office of the Saxon capital. Her candidateship was confirmed by the party congress of the Dresden CDU in 2007. Helma Orosz won the election in a second voting with a two-thirds compliance while voter's participation was little.[2] Helma Orosz supports construction of the controversial Waldschlößchenbrücke across the Elbe Valley in Dresden, in line with CDU party policy.[3]
